30 Day Harry Potter ~ Wrap Up

I have successfully completed 30 Days of Harry Potter goodness. I wanted to wrap up the challenge by talking about what I learned and if I would do it again...

  1. The first thing I discovered about this challenge is that I didn't know as much as I thought I did. I read the books when they first came out. I missed the first one but by book 2 I was standing in line at midnight for a release. That was a long time ago according to my memory
  2. I also discovered that I based a lot of my answers off the movies which I apparently review and watch more than I re-read the books. So a lot of what I was judging was movie related and I am not sure if that is what this challenge wanted to focus on.
  3. I stopped reading and caring about this universe once I was done with the books. I mean I clearly still watch the movies when they are on. However, I no longer desire to re-read this series. I am hoping that this will change as I haven't really watched the new movies (Fantastical Beast) nor have I read the new book (Cursed Child)
  4. I forget how much I enjoyed these books until I was actually doing this challenge which now I want to do a re-read so yeah that's on my list
So what about you? If you followed along what was your favorite day? Is this a challenge you would do?

I probably wouldn't do this challenge again for awhile as I think my answers are going to remain the same. I have attached the original challenge below. I hope you get the chance to do this.

30 Day Harry Potter Challenge ~ Day 30

Today Is:

Day 30: Favorite family

I think most people would put the Weasley family here and while I tend to go the opposite of what most people would put, I have to say they were by far my favorite family. I honestly, wonder though if it is because they were pretty much the only family, we were able to see and witness. The only other family interactions we saw involved Malfoy and his family and by the sheer nature of the story we were not supposed to like them or make them a favorite.

The other part of this was how the Weasley’s interacted with each other. Some of the brothers had left by the time we start, and we get to watch the remaining brothers grow up with their baby sister. We also get to see how they view the world around them and even when their opinions vary from their parents they are still loved and cared for. This is also the only family we get to see interacting at holidays and well just taking on extra kids because they had no were else to go. Harry and Hermione being prime examples of this. Every time we saw the Weasley’s there were Harry and Hermione enjoying themselves or helping to protect like a family should be. This family right here is one that I personally would love to be apart of either by marriage, blood or just a friend that is included.

30 Day Harry Potter Challenge ~ Day 29

Today Is:

Day 29: Favorite room at Hogwarts

I am going to vote for The Great Hall I mean it literally transforms to every situation. It has the sky outside during normal days, Christmas and let us not forget about the Yule Ball. Seriously how is this not everyone’s favorite room. I mean who could forge this scene?

Definition of the Great Hall
The Great Hall holds the entire Hogwarts student body and faculty for meals, social gatherings, and special events. It's best known for its long house tables that can instantly replenish with food, for its ceiling that mimics the sky, and for its floating lit candles. The Great Hall is decorated for holiday feasts throughout the year and for parties like the Yule Ball. Though most of the memories associated with the Great Hall are joyous, it's also the room where students take their O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. exams.

30 Day Harry Potter Challenge ~ Day 28

Today Is:

Day 28: Least favorite female character?

Oh, hands down I hate hate hate Bellatrix Lestrange and I think that really reflects on the writing and the actress because dear lord I wanted to hit that b*tch. So, imagine my surprised when Molly Weasley did just that. She is the epitome of everything someone should hate. She hates everyone who isn’t pure blood, she tortures with glee, she worships Voldemort and kills with pleasure. She is in for a lack of a better word a true psychopath. I think that we need an evil character but, I always enjoy an evil character with a reason or a chance of redemption and this one had no chance at one. Not to mention that I don’t think anyone wanted her to get that redemption. The only regret I have is that Neville wasn’t the one to end her.

30 Day Harry Potter Challenge ~ Day 27

Today Is:

Day 27: Least favorite male character?

I don’t usually have a least favorite anything in this world but, I think if I had to pick one it would Lucius Malfoy. While I think he was needed in order to show us how Draco turned into who he was. And while I understood his struggle you have the beliefs that your family poured into you and then when it comes down to it if you didn’t support the “Dark Lord” he would kill you or your family and torture you. Anyone in that place would decide they felt was best for their family. I think with Lucius though he decided to join to get higher up in the line of succession for fame and wealth. However, the longer it went and when Voldemort came back he quickly realized what a dangerous situation he put his family in and what could potentially happen to him and his son if they didn’t jump at every command. Yet in spite of all that he continued to do what he knew best and that was to follow orders and to jump instead of to turn and walk away. He continued to be coward and didn’t fight instead fled with his wife and child when the final battle was happening.

30 Day Harry Potter Challenge ~ Day 26

Today Is:

Day 26: Favorite location

I have to say that I absolutely love platform 9 ¾ just because that was our first introduction to getting completely away from muggles. I mean yes, he went into the alley but they had to tap and do all that while at Platform 9 ¾ was something you had to have a leap of faith and just run into it and how freaking cool was that. I mean here is this kid who is wrapping his head around the wands and people in robes and while you could probably justify that and the goblins maybe having to run through a wall would take it completely out of your mind and make it real for me. I mean after all if you pinch yourself then you are supposed to wake up… so imagine if you had to run into a wall. The story really came to a magical point so to speak when this scene happened.

30 Day Harry Potter Challenge ~ Day 25

Today Is:
Day 25: What could you want the ending to be if you could change it

I am not sure if I would change the ending. Epilogue way though I would change the couples up but, otherwise let’s be honest this series is AMAZING. I think towards the end in the epilogue I would have Harry and Luna together, Hermione and Draco, I would also have Ron with another person and Ginny with Neville. Then again, I would love to keep the same kids but good night change some of the names. I have always wondered if Hermione was ever able to get back with her parents or reverse that curse which I hear might be answered in the Cursed Child. I also had other questions about other characters and really wished she had continued it but all things must come to an end.

30 Day Harry Potter Challenge ~ Day 24

Today Is:
Day 24: Favorite defense against the dark arts teacher

So I'm going to go with a classic and choose Remus Lupin he didn't last long in the position but I have to say from the moment we were introduced to him I was in love with him. Not in the way of OMG I wanna date a werewolf wizard way but, in the I feel so much for him and what he had to go through. The book in general and over the different books learning more about the stigma he faced and how he grew up with this while the whole time people ostracized him when he had no control over it. I have to say JK Rowling did such a fantastic job with this and getting a social context across that I didn't even realize that was what I was learning about. Plus let's admit up to this they weren't doing anything cool at all in Defense Against the Dark Arts and he at least taught them some very useful information.
