Update on Reading Challenge ~ Week 8

Okay weekly update for my challenges...

I have read 5 books so far in 2020 and am working on book 6
I have read from Library Love Challenge 5/24, Cloak and Dagger Challenge 5/25, and Personal Reading Challenge 5/62

I am still really focusing my time on fanfics (big surprise there) They are quick and easy plus I can read a chapter here or there on my phone in minutes.  I managed to read a few short stories AKA one shots. But I did manage to get 5 new full stories in. I will post reviews of these on Friday.
for my challenge 33/52

I am still doing reviews here but I am also doing a bunch of them over at a blog I made for BTS fandom stuff.

That's all for me what about you? How are your challenges going?

FanFic Review ~ Crayons and Tattoos by PupleCatLady84

Main Pairing: Jeon Jungkook and Kim SeokjinChapters: 10/10Word Count: 29506Read in: January 2020
Challenge: doesn't meet the criteria
Author’s Summary: "Is there something I need to be concerned about now?"
"Our Kookie's husband appreciation time hyung", Jimin piped up, eyes turning into crescents at how wide he was smiling in Jungkook's direction. "Well technically his future husband. Kookie's love of his life still doesn't know it yet", and gave another high pitched giggle, with Hoseok pinching Jimin's arm with barely contained laughter.
Yoongi looked at the two like they have both grown insane but decided to play along and asked warily, "Well then, who is this unlucky person that Kook decided is the one?"
Hoseok pointed at someone outside the cafe across the street from their tattoo shop.
Yoongi just barely saw the mop of lilac hair as he passed by the corner, following Jungkook's line of sight, eyes going big and immediately blurted out loud enough for everybody to hear,
"You've got to be kidding me, you mean Seokjin hyung?"
----------
Tattoo artist Jungkook falls head over heels over teacher Seokjin and vice versa. Too much softness and fluff, and probably a little smut. That's it, that's the fic :)

·     My thoughts:
Oh my how freaking cute was this story. I struggle when it come to Jeon Jungkook fics and trying to find the right combination from him being too “alpha” or too tough to the opposite where he is almost too soft. However, when you combine him with Seokjin he becomes more dominate yet sweet and when you combine him with Kim Namjoon, he becomes submissive yet sweet. So this story focuses more on him with Jin and a relationship between them from the love at first sight to the official declaration of boyfriend to living together. This was one of those stories that I enjoyed watching the couple get together and not really change each other or grow mainly because they didn’t need to. They remained themselves yet wanting to be soft for the other person and I have to say it’s refreshing. Kook was just soft all the time and “looked tough due to tats” While Jin was a fluffy ball of softness. They were adorable and I love the whole Jimin, Hobi and Suga at the tattoo parlor and Tae, Joon and Jin as elementary teachers. It was a sweet switch up and I enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see what part 2 of the Crayons and Tattoos
will have.

FanFic Review ~ Featherlight by CassiaVioletBlue, softjeon

Main Pairing: Kim Namjoon and Park Jimin
Chapters: 5/5
Word Count: 49,161
Read In: January 2020
Challenge: 5. Crossover I kind of cheated on this one... sue me
Read in: 2020
Author Summary: Humans could hear their guardians, feel their voice inside of them like warm chocolate on a cold winter day. Usually it was enough for angels to whisper to their human, make them consider a different option or another approach. And then there were people who were effectively ignoring their inner voices and apparently Namjoon was just really adamant on not taking care of himself and getting himself into danger constantly.
My Thoughts:
Where to begin... First off I love the uniqueness of this fic. I mean guardians? Angels and we can hear them until, you know, your Namjoon who just doesn't listen to them. This felt almost too real. The authors got the characters right from what I could tell. I loved the pairings with Namjoon and Jimin and the growth of the characters. I absolutely love it when one of them pairs off and while the pairing itself isn't different the way it is presented is. I like that Jimin is the protector of Namjoon and is just trying to keep this clutz safe to only expose himself right in the middle. Then cares too much to leave him brokenhearted so alas they start hanging out together. And there is where it all went wrong and yet so right. The match was great and watching Jimin trying to figure out the balance between angel and lover was wonderful to watch. Can I personally just say that I need more angel Jimin and whatnot. I do however, think Namjoon as an angel would be pretty cute.

Also unrelated to the previous statement but still related I absolutely love how fast Yoongi falls in love with Jungkook and how that relationship on the side played out.

Seriously if you have never read these author's I highly recommend it.

FanFic Review ~ Because His stars Are In My Dreams by Linn_Linn

Main Pairing: Park Jimin and Jeon Jungkook
Chapters: 27/27
Word count: 183,280
Read in: January 2020
Challenge: Doesn't meet my criteria

Author’s summary: Jimin and Jungkook met at a party and left together. They became boyfriends in the blink of an eye and now they live together in Jimin's apartment. But only after six weeks together, Jimin suspects that something isn't right. Worried and nervous, he tries to reach Jungkook who won't pick up his calls. And when Jungkook comes home in the middle of the night, smelling like lavender, Jimin isn't sure what to think. Friendships will be tested and love will be questioned, that is for sure.

My Thoughts:
Dear god did this one hit in the feels which to be fair this author is known for. However, I found myself just hurting for everyone in this fic from Jimin to Jungkook to Tae to Namjoon and Suga. They all just got put so much through the ringer that I had a hard time not hurting. The only one that I wanted to smack was Tae and then I wanted to hug the poor baby. I really got frustrated with Kook and was so happy with how he finally started to mature in this fic. This author and this story was one of the few that I have read religiously for the entire story. I think I started about chapter 3 and then weekly sat with biting nails and cries of frustration (cliffhangers) until the next week for this story to have the satisfaction I needed to finally breathe and be happy. There is only one other fanfic that I am as obessed about as this story and that is Vanilla Baby I am waiting with baited breathe every week and then I pounce like a woman possessed to read it.

This is one I do plan now that it is complete to go back and read all the way through as a complete story.

FanFic Review ~ Baby Blue by Chimknj

Main Pairing: Jimin and Namjoon
Chapters 12/12
Word count: 75,445
Read in: December 2019

Author Summary:
Namjoon had promised himself he'd never get attached. Yet, when he gazed back into Jimin's sweet eyes, he was breaking that promise in the blink of an eye...or a story about how a very busy CEO thought buying a sugar baby fulfilled his social therapy task.

My thoughts:
Well let me just tell you I LOVED this fic. I love that Namjoon is a little extra and in the sense of extra I mean afraid to be loved or receive love. I absolutely adore the fact that he is so strict and extreme and then he gets Jimin. And I’m totally on board for the troupe of sugar babies and daddies. No idea when that became a thing for me, but I LOVE IT. Now that being said I also think that troupe works for this pair the best. So far… this was one of the first I have read with this troupe and who knew this was a thing for me, but alas I am weak, and it is. The writing was fantastic I really felt that I could connect to Jimin and Namjoon and why they acted the way they did. I enjoyed watching Namjoon change slowly and adapt and open to Jimin. I love how Jimin just accepted this is Namjoon and yet didn’t let him get away with it. He still demanded to be treated differently. The growth of both characters is amazing, and I enjoyed every single second of this fic. IF you are looking for the troupe mentioned above and sweetness this is the fic for you! I am looking forward to discovering more of this author’s fiction.

FanFic Review ~ Jammed by minversehe

Title: Jammed by minversehe

Main Pairing: Park Jimin and Kim Taehyung

Chapters: 1/1
Words: 11,058
Read in: January 2020
Challenge  18. Smut/Lemon

Author’s Summary: rational part of Jimin's brain screams at him to remember what his mother said about strangers and vans. But the rational part of his brain is no match for really bad whiskey and Kim Taehyung.
((au where Jimin gets stuck on the interstate in the middle of a blizzard and Taehyung lives in a van))

My Thoughts:

Okay I have a slight weakness for Taehyung which comes out of nowhere. Usually I am not a fan of reading fanfic with him in it or JHope but for some reason I also have a weakness for any Vmin shipping that occurs. I just love their natural relationship. So I just happened to stumble across this one evening while I was checking for updates on my subscriptions and trying to catch up on my favorite authors' backstories I haven't already previously read. Then I realized authors' also bookmark and man I might be missing a goldmine in that. So I quickly looked into their bookmarks and BAM this story shows up.
First off Jimin is very uptight in this fic and Tae is well living in a van. Yet somehow Jimin let's it all go for some good sexy time. Only to realize a surprise. The majority of the fic focusing on them meeting and Tae slowly but surely convincing Jimin to get into his van (not in a creepy way) and then well it goes sexy. The rest of the fic is the aftermath which I totally appreciate more of the aftermath story then I thought I would. It helped me to get a good satsifying ending to a relationship that I find I am more and more in support of. Needless to say this is a quick fluff, sexy, relationship not previous established read. I enjoyed that Yoongi and Hope were getting married in it. That added some sweetness to it and I loved that all OT7 showed up.

Check out this author I have to say I will probably read more from them!

FanFic Review ~ You are the one who will give meaning to my memories

Main Pairing: Jungkook and Namjoon
Chapters: 1/1
Words: 25,923

Finished in: January 2020
Challenge: Doesn't qualify for my challenge

Author Summary: “D’you know the meanings of the flowers in the tattoo you designed for me?” Jungkook hears himself ask, then: why? Why am I asking that when I should be saying fuck yes please kiss me all the time—?
But Namjoon’s kneeling in front of him, hands gripping Jungkook’s thighs as he tries to squirm between them to edge closer to him. He’s blushing and nervous; Jungkook can feel his hands shake where they’re planted on his thighs, can see the tiny tremors in his shoulders, hears how shaky his breathing is. “Love at first sight. Hidden worth. I think of you,” Namjoon mumbles, “right? I looked it up online and in a book, but it was a really weird book—”
Jungkook covers one of Namjoon’s hands with his own, winds his other around his neck, and yanks him in to press their lips together.
(Or: in which Jungkook develops a crush on the tattoo artist who just moved next door after he comes in to buy flowers.)
My Thoughts: Wow this one was a super sweet one shot and I was so upset when I was interrupted in reading it. I had to split it into 2 days due to the sheer length but my goodness I was so happy to have stumbled across this fic. It was sweet and even though there was a mis-communication my goodness it doesn’t matter because I am whole heartily in love with the way they worked it out and handled it. The fic goes through the whole relationship from beginning to a HEA and I was on board with the whole thing. I really enjoy Namjoon and Jungkook together and I wish I could find more soft stories like this. It was a sweet build up to a great relationship.
