Review ~ Ruthless by Sara Shepard #10 #PLL series

TITLE: Ruthless
AUTHOR: Sara Shepard
COPYRIGHT: 2011
TYPE: Young Adult
PAGES: 341
SERIES: yes

REASON FOR READING:
Well let's be honest I have been sucked into the previous 9 books and this time I just had to go further!

GOODREADS SUMMARY:
Sometimes bad things happen to bad girls. . . .
Aria's love life is on the Fitz—ahem, fritz. Emily's exploring her wild side. Hanna's kissing the enemy. And someone from Spencer's past—someone she never thought she'd see again—is back to haunt her. But none of that compares to what these pretty little liars did on their last spring break. It's their darkest secret yet. And guess who else knows?
I haven't forgotten, and I certainly haven't forgiven. These pretty little liars better watch their backs because they're about to get exactly what they deserve. . . .
THOUGHTS/OPINIONS
Alright not to repeat myself but...
Okay I have to admit I thought what the hell seriously there is no way that 1. She can continue this story I mean after the way she ended the last one and 2. Where could she possibly go from here after all the secrets died with A right?! But then here comes book 9 and I’m like HOLY CRAP are you kidding me? How much more can these girls take and is this really necessary and why in God’s name am I still reading them like they are my cotton candy guilty pleasure. Yet I managed to read all of this in one freaking setting staying up til 2.

THE PROBLEMS:
I have no idea where they are going to go with this. Eventually everyone will be A I think.
How much more can the girls take?
They are separated and not friends during half of the books which sucks b/c I like it better when they are together and sharing secrets.
New characters LORD save me I have enough people to remember please stop adding in more and more people.
My God when will these girls get smart and stop following for stupid idiotic things considering everything they have been through you would think they would think things out a little bit more before rushing in head first again to the same shit over and over. Yet there they go.
Again and again mistake after mistake... I am getting to the point where this is getting old enough I am not certain how much long I am going to stay with this series. I mean COME ON WISE UP LITTLE ONES you can't be this stupid to keep making mistake after mistake after mistake and not think that someone anyone at this point is going to figure it out?!?!
At least they are getting smart enough to come together and figure things out. ALSO why is it the worse thing that happens to Aria is her boyfriend issues? I mean come on the others have some MAJOR shit on their plates I would think that Aria would be my #1 suspect at this point... just sayin...

Keeping or Passing: Passing
Goodreads Grade: 2 out of 5 stars
Recommend to a Friend: no at this point I am even done

REASON FOR READING:
Well come on everyone needs a secret pleasure that is guilty and shame ridden…

SUMMARY (from Goodreads):
It’s been a year since the torturous notes from A stopped and the mystery of Alison DiLaurentis’s disappearance was finally put to rest. Now seniors in high school, Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily are older, but they’re not any wiser. The pretty little liars have more secrets than ever - twisted secrets that could destroy the perfect lives they’ve worked so hard to rebuild.

Aria’s jealous of her boyfriend’s new exchange student. Spencer’s getting a little too cozy with her soon-to-be-stepbrother. Hanna’s one scandalous photo away from ruining her dad’s Senate campaign. And Emily will do anything to get a swim scholarship.

Worst of all: Last spring break in Jamaica, they did something unforgivable. The girls are desperate to forget that fateful night, but they should know better than anyone that all secrets wash ashore... eventually.

THOUGHTS/OPINION:

Oh a photographer that seems shady and comes out of nowhere right when your dad is running for Senate yep don’t mind if I do lock myself in his room?!
Stealing money sure why not
Trying to out seduce the Finnish exchange student? Really? Come on…

THE WINS
We still have the girls who have survived the worse of the worse and still make enough mistakes with just enough secrets that you stayed glued to the page.
The girls are all alone which makes it easy pickings for the new A
And let’s not forget there is a new A someone new who knows all the old secrets plus some brand spanking new ones!
Also I am dying to know who is going to die
I am also wanting to know how are they going to figure out this A. Plus come on the secrets are juicier now. Spencer did something naughty to get into her top school. Aria is being forced out of the Khan relationship by an exchange student. Emily was PREGANT OMG jeez seriously and Hanna oh Hanna dear me she’s not going to get out of this one.

Are you keeping it or passing it on? Library book passing on it (have determined that I only read them once so no reason to buy them)

Goodreads grade: 3 out of 5 stars

Review ~ Wanted #PLL #8 by Sara Shepard

5. Wicked (PLL #5)
6.Killer (PLL #6)
7. Heartless (PLL #7)
8. Wanted (PLL #8)

REASON FOR READ:
Because let's be honest I have a problem

SUMMARY (from Goodreads):
In Rosewood, majestic estates sprawl for acres, and Tiffany toggle bracelets dangle from every girl's wrist. But not all that glitters is gold, and the town harbors secrets darker than anyone could imagine—like the truth about what really happened the night Alison DiLaurentis went missing. . . .

Back in middle school, Ali plucked Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer from obscurity and turned them into the beautiful, popular girls everyone wanted to be. Ali was the best friend they ever had. But she also made them do terrible things and taunted them with their worst secrets. Now, three years later, all their questions about Ali have finally been answered and they can put this awful chapter of their lives behind them. Or so they think.

Not every story has a happy ending, especially when four pretty little liars have done so many wicked things. In the dramatic conclusion of Sara Shepard's bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer could get everything they've ever wanted—unless A has one more horrifying twist in store.

THOUGHTS/OPINION:
Shoot me now b/c my freaking mind is blown seriously blown. Alright so the nickname Pretty Little Liars was in the last book which finally made the whole name of the TV show and series make sense cause let's be honest they are pretty, little, and liars according to the public and well themselves, and thanks to A.
This particular book gave us twins! That's right it handed us up twins. Yep you read that right Ali had a twin named Courtney who was crazier than a bag of cats. Everyone is excited b/c Courtney tells them she is Ali and they want to believe it. Turns out both twins were crazier than a bag of cats (fans of the show will appreciate that line cause Hanna says it about Caleb when he is in Ravenswood). Basically Courtney was locked away and when she saw her chance she pretended to be Ali and had the real one locked away instead which is why she picked the 4 liars as her "new best friends out of nowhere". And this whole freaking time that Ali was dead it was really Courtney who was dead. Now Courtney who has decided to come out and play is the real Ali. And now she is really Ali getting revenge on Courtney for taking her life and hanging out with losers. Holy crap I didn't think this story could get any more twisted or deeper well I guess I wouldn't go with deep persay

SPOILER

WTF add to it she killed her twin and Ian and Jenna and then tried to kill Aria, Spencer, Emily, Hanna and Melissa in a fire at her lake house. There went my Melissa is A theory.

SPOILER OVER

Crap on a stick.

THINGS I LIKED
Well to be honest there was very little that I didn't like. I enjoyed this story a bunch and I liked the twist and turns. Just when I thought I figured it out which I did the author made me wonder if I was going crazy and maybe that was too far fetched. Turned out it wasn't. Go figure.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE
My gosh towards the end keeping Courtney and Ali separate and which was which and who did what and why? That got out of hand but wow.

Favorite part or line from story: The WHOLE DAMN THING

FINAL GRADE: A

Review ~ Heartless #PLL #7 by Sara Shepard

TITLE: Heartless
AUTHOR: Sara Shepard

TYPE: young adult
PAGES:  274
SERIES:
1. Pretty Little Liars (PLL #1)
2. Flawless (PLL #2)
3. Perfect (PLL #3)
4. Unbelievable (PLL #4)
5. Wicked (PLL #5)
6.Killer
7. Heartless
8. Wanted

REASON FOR READ:
Seriously b/c I have read 6 and I am slightly addicted

SUMMARY (from Goodreads):
First Emily, Aria, Hanna, and Spencer claimed they found a dead body in the woods behind Spencer's house, only to have it vanish without a trace. Then, when the same woods went up in flames, they swore they saw someone who's supposed to be dead rise from the ashes. And even after all that, the pretty little liars are still playing with fire. Call me heartless, but it's about time someone shut these liars up for good. After all, nobody likes a girl who cries wolf—least of all me

THOUGHTS/OPINION:
Turns out that Ian may not be the one who killed Ali. And Kate is a freaking psycho witch seriously?!?! And here's why:
So Hanna goes to the mental ward due to what Kate tells her family and apparently A told Hanna's dad that PTSD is what Hanna had. Spence is mom’s little angel telling Spence exactly what she wants to hear about how Spence was the one they wanted and planned for but Melissa was not. Then Spence goes and breaks up the happy family with a secret that Ali was her freaking sister due to an affair her dad had with Mrs. D. Emily is back on being in love with a ghost AKA Ali b/c she just can't stop (PLEASE SHOOT HER WHY CAN'T SHE DIE ALREADY) she and Caleb from the show should talk about how well that goes. Aria tries to channel a ghost and falls for a Khan instead. Take a wild guess on whose behind all those thoughts. And the story goes on and on and on. MAN shoot me in the foot with these books and maybe take away my brain cells so they die and yet HOLY CRAP I can’t stop.
As if that wasn’t enough JENNA is DEAD just like that OMG what the what the what. I can’t wait until the next one. And the guy who killed her is some no name construction worker who apparently stalked the girls and yet doesn't fit nor fill right in this situation. Jason is still weird and omg poor freaking blind Jenna you have got to be kidding me. Add to it what is going on with Wilden?!

I just can't do the like and not like parts due to how twisted and interwoven this story is...

Favorite part or line from story: I have to say I enjoyed the mental ward scene with Hanna and how she grew from it.

FINAL GRADE: B

Review ~ Killer #PLL #6 by Sara Shepard

TITLE: Killer
AUTHOR: Sara Shepard
COPYRIGHT: 2009
TYPE: young adult
PAGES:  322
SERIES:  yes
1. Pretty Little Liars (PLL #1)
2. Flawless (PLL #2)
3. Perfect (PLL #3)
4.
Unbelievable (PLL #4)
5. Wicked (PLL #5)
6. Killer

REASON FOR READ:
I am addicted… enough said

SUMMARY (from Goodreads):
In picture-perfect Rosewood, Pennsylvania, ash-blond highlights gleam in the winter sun and frozen lakes sparkle like Swarovski crystals. But pictures often lie— and so do Rosewood's four prettiest girls.
Hanna, Aria, Spencer, and Emily have been lying ever since they became friends with beautiful Alison DiLaurentis. Ali made them do terrible things—things they had to keep secret for years. And even though Ali was killed at the end of seventh grade, their bad-girl ways didn't die with her.
Hanna's on a mission to corrupt Rosewood's youth, starting with a very attractive sophomore. Aria's snooping into her boyfriend's past. Spencer's stealing— from her family. And pure little Emily's abstaining from abstinence.
The girls should be careful, though. They thought they were safe when Ali's killer was arrested and A's true identity was finally revealed. But now there's a new A in town turning up the heat. And this time Rosewood is going to burn

THOUGHTS/OPINION:
Again spoilers just keep in mind…

So now Hanna’s after Aria’s younger brother Mike to prove that she is Queen B over her stupid Step sister Kate (I do wish this would end soon). Aria’s running like crazy from her mom’s new boyfriend who likes Aria and threatens that Aria’s stupid mother will believe him over her which sadly is true due to Ella being a big baby and immature. Spencer’s parents have iced her out so much she is falling for the thought that she is adopted and gave away her whole college funding for an apartment with a fake mom she didn’t even check out. Add with that finds out that she is adopted or at least not a full blooded daughter of the Hastings. Plus she and Andrew are getting really close. And Emily decides to not be a virgin any longer and gives it up to her first BOY FRIEND yep no longer gay. MY GOSH A LOT happens in this series.

THINGS I LIKED
I liked seeing the girls put the pieces of the mystery together and start to finally bond. Which sadly doesn’t last and that is annoying. I seriously wanted them to be like they are on the show just a side note.
The girls are all smart and stupid in their own individual ways.
This is the book that made me really start to feel bad for the girls and feel bad for the sheer torture they are being forced to live under
THERE’S A MASSIVE SPOILER at the end of this book and yet I can’t give it away but trust it is MAJOR!

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE
I didn’t like how long it took Hanna to realize she was being played and how stupid she comes off in this book.
I didn’t like that Spencer got PLAYED so badly.
It felt as if we are being set up again like we were with Ian…
I am dying to know what happened and how Wilden and Jason fit in and I’m not sure I enjoy it.

FINAL GRADE: B

Would you recommend this story? Yes of course

Review ~ Wicked #PLL #5 by Sara Shepard

TITLE: Wicked
AUTHOR: Sara Shepard
COPYRIGHT: 2009
TYPE: young adult
PAGES: 311
SERIES:  YES
1. Pretty Little Liars
5. Wicked
6. Killer

REASON FOR READ:
Well come on I read books 1-4 and wanted to know more. Besides it’s turned into my guilty little pleasure

SUMMARY (from Goodreads):
In idyllic Rosewood, Pennsylvania, four very pretty girls just can't help but be bad. . . .

Hanna will do anything to be Rosewood's queen bee. Spencer's digging up her family's secrets. Emily can't stop thinking about her new boyfriend. And Aria approves a little too strongly of her mom's taste in men.

Now that Ali's killer is finally behind bars, the girls think they're safe. But those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it. And they should know by now that I'm always watching…

THOUGHTS/OPINION:
Okay so spoiler seriously people this is the 5 book so if you haven’t read books 1-4 be warned I am going to talk about this book in details…

OMG so Mona is dead as is Toby. Hanna is debating if her step sister Kate is really all she is claiming to be. Emily isn’t gay. Spencer is adopted or at least believes she is. And Aria has the hots for her mom’s new boyfriend who turns out to be a total douche EW… oh Aria’s dad is still with cray cray Meredith who is pregos with the new baby and moves them into a house by Ian. Do you remember him? Well apparently in this book he is in jail but gets out on bail due to his mom dying of cancer HOLY CRAP… Wilden and Jason are still in here as is Maya and Jenna.  And well a whole hell of a lot of others.
Whew I think that catches everything up without giving stuff away per say…

THINGS I LIKED
Whelp I absolutely love that this is no longer the show it is grittier and dirtier and well plain old prettier than the show.
The girls are still a hot mess
I am starting to feel bad for them so at least that has changed
And add to it all there’s a new A!!!
The mystery is still there that was a bonus.

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE
My God this book jumps around a lot from different perspectives which is good and yet can get overwhelming at times when you want to know more about a chapter.
Man these girls are to the point that they don’t deserve necessarily what is happening then again at times they do.

FINAL GRADE: B

Would you recommend this story? Yes if you like PLL then you have to read this one.

Is this a part of a reading challenge? Not any more other than the yearly challenge.
