30 Day Kdrama Challenge ~ Day 29

I got this photo from here

When I was on Madame Writer's blog for photo above I saw that she did a Kdrama challenge that she found on Tumblr which I linked below. I thought wow I should do this as I am getting more and more into Kdramas (to be fair I have only watched a finished a handful) So I am debating if I should do it all in one post or make it a 30 day challenge...

30 DAY KDRAMA CHALLENGE

Today is: Day 29: A Kdrama which made you so happy

Oh come on if you haven’t figured this out you must be new to this challenge. One of the Kdramas that really, really makes me happy when I watch is Wise Prison Life AKA Prison Playbook. It is just so enticing and raw and such a show that I could just watch over and over. It is funny, serious, deep and at the same time believable. I truly enjoy watching this one and it has led me to many others. I guess what they say is true, you will always remember your first… or would it be better to say, your first is always the best? Either way, this show makes me so happy to watch.

30 Day Kdrama Challenge ~ Day 25

30 DAY KDRAMA CHALLENGE

Today is:Day 25: Your First Kdrama

Wise Prison Life AKA Prison Playbook was my first Kdrama. I had just finished up Rise of Phoenixes a CDrama and had my mind blown with it. I saw this also on Netflix and thought I should give it a go. I AM SO HAPPY THAT I DID. Rise of the Phoenixes just was too much. I got about halfway through and realized I didn’t like the main female (LOVED THE MALE, LOVED THE STORYLINE, LOVED THE TWISTS, hated the female) So I was looking for something different. This was set in modern times and had the prison aspect I love (Prison Break anyone?) So, I had to see what it was about and never looked back or regretted that decision. This has been my go-to drama and by far my favorite! Thank you, Netflix it is actually why, I ended up getting the Vicki app.

30 Day Kdrama Challenge ~ Day 17

30 DAY KDRAMA CHALLENGE

Today is: Day 17: A Kdrama you’ve watched more than once

I will fully admit the one drama that I have watched numerous times (I honestly think that I am on 5x around) is Wise Prison Life AKA Prison Playbook. It was just one of those dramas that stuck with me and makes a person want to re-watch it. I wish I could say it was based solely on the main character’s story but in reality, I was fascinated with all the people and their stories in this kdrama. This drama just had so much to unpack. It had the emotional drainage of the main character going from a national baseball player to a murderer in jail and surviving. A best friend trying to do everything to protect him and grabble with his own issues. A sister and mother both of which blame themselves for this happening. A girlfriend wrestling with a stubborn man. Then add in all the prisoners that are his cellmates and those that aren’t. Their stories were all equally fleshed out and wow I just have to say it was amazing to watch and see their stories and endings. Some were happily ever after stories and some well they didn’t end in the way that would make anyone happy and yet I can’t help but want more about each of those stories. Every time someone asks me for a show to watch I suggest this even if they aren’t into Kdramas simply because it is that good.

30 DAY KDRAMA CHALLENGE

Today is:
Day 14: Your Favorite Kiss **SPOILER**

So I couldn't find a copy of the scene instead I just gave you a bunch of them...

The kiss at the end when Kim Je-hyuk kisses Kim Ji-ho means so much to me. This whole show he was trapped behind bars and was trying to survive and do what he thought was right just in case. He tried to do everything he could for his family being trapped. He pushed them away so that they wouldn’t have to see him sad or hurt. He pushed everyone he loved as far away from him as he could. At the end though he came out a better person. He respected things more, he held closer to those relationships, he bonded and kept his promises. Most importantly he sought out those that he loved and meant the most to him to show them how much he appreciated. Watching him show emotions was awe inspiring and such a heartstrings pulling tear moment.

30 DAY KDRAMA CHALLENGE

Today is:

Day 12: Your Favorite Story
OMG why does this challenge ask such difficult questions. I mean can a person really pick their favorite show? And if you did what would one base it off? So, if it is by sheer amount of times watched then it would be Prison Playbook…

If you go off a show that was emotionally draining but worth it… then Goblin is the obvious choice.

If you go off one that you quote the most then I am Not a Robot would be the one I would have to go with.

Yet if you go off a very sweet and cute love story I happen to love 30 but 17 is that cute fluff show I just adore

So how does one pick a favorite show?

30 day Kdrama Challenge ~ Day 1

I got this photo from here

When I was on Madame Writer's blog for photo above I saw that she did a Kdrama challenge that she found on Tumblr which I linked below. I thought wow I should do this as I am getting more and more into Kdramas (to be fair I have only watched a finished a handful) So I am debating if I should do it all in one post or make it a 30 day challenge...

30 Day Kdrama Challenge

Day 01: Your Favorite Kdrama

Right now I will have to say Wise Prison Life AKA Prison Playbook on Netflix. This drama is what sealed Kdrama's fate and standard in my book. It aired in Korea in 2017 but was discovered by yours truly in 2018. I think on Netflix I watched it at least 3 times and then gave up and bought the DVD set from Amazon because I enjoyed it that much and was scared Netflix would stop showing it.
It stars Park Hae-soo who plays Kim Je-hyuk - he is a superstar baseball player (left handed pitcher) that is so good he is being recruited by the US. In one fatal night though he turns into a convict and is sent to prison to figure out how to survive. The whole court time he is told that he would be let go and then comes to the realization that he will spend a year in prison and how will that affect his career, his personal life, his family and what will change about himself.
Jung kyung-ho plays his best friend Lee Joon-ho and is also an elite prison guard. It is one of the moments when these two meet that I felt a huge weight being lifted from my shoulders for Kim Je-hyuk who had been struggling up to that point and so lonely. There are a lot of other storylines happening during this show that include those left behind (AKA his family) and those he meets in prison. I have to say hands down I recommend this drama to everyone.

Have you seen this kdrama? What are your thoughts?
