7. The Shadow Queen

9. Twilight’s Dawn

REASON FOR READ:.
I LOVE THIS SERIES so when this one came out I HAD TO HAVE IT.

SUMMARY (from Goodreads):
Anne Bishop's "darkly fascinating"* (SF Site) Black Jewel novels have enthralled readers and critics alike with their mixture of fantasy, intrigue, and romance. Now in Twilight's Dawn, Bishop returns to the Blood realm with four all-new captivating novellas

THOUGHTS/OPINION:
This has 4 different stories they start off sweet and gradually move darker toward the Black Jewel’s tone. A lot of people didn’t like how Ms. Bishop wrapped up the series with D and J but I have to say I think she did a fantastic job and I do not for any reason think the child D has is a replacement for J. Move on people and get over it.

THINGS I LIKED:
- I liked getting yet another glimpse of the people I have grown to love in this series
- I thought all the stories were great the one with were D loses not only J but his dad nearly did me in I felt so bad for D~
- I liked watching L and his family growing I love, love, love that he had a daughter he needed one and so did M

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:
- I admit it I’m very sorry that this series is coming to an end I do not have any idea if this was the last one but I have a feeling it was and I will greatly miss this series.

Are you keeping it or passing it on?
Keeping I have collected as many of these as I can in Hardcover

Would you recommend this book?
I would but you HAVE to read the first 3 if not all of them but 7 and 8 to understand what is going on in these short stories.

Review ~ Beastly by Alex Finn

TITLE: Beastly
AUTHOR: Alex Finn
COPYRIGHT: 2007
TYPE: Young Adult fairytale re-take
PAGES: 304
SERIES: no

REASON FOR READ:
I saw this at the book store and since I’m a sucker for fairy-tale remakes I had to see what the hype is all about.

SUMMARY (from Goodreads):
I am a beast.
A beast!
Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright. I am a monster.
You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll, stay this way forever ruined unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly...beastly

THOUGHTS/OPINION:
Overall I thought the book was okay. It is really the traditional version of Beauty and the Beast (well Disney version anyhow) the catch is the modern re-telling of the story. Beast is a rich, pretty, popular kid at school and Beauty is the quiet shy girl who is also poor.
It worked but wasn’t anything great that really stood out.

THINGS I LIKED:
- I did like the chat sessions between Beast and the other magical creatures out there. They were fun to read.
- I liked that the Beauty wasn’t really a drop dead gorgeous girl she was in fact kind of plane what made her beautiful was her kindness.
- I did like that what made Beast a beast was not just his selfishness but his home life contributed quite a bit.

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:
- The story was just the same old story I saw with Disney I just didn’t expect it to be so average I was really just hoping for something more something that reached out and grabbed me.

Are you keeping it or passing it on? Yes I am passing on this so if you are interested in picking up a copy leave a comment and be entered to win this or any book off my giveaway shelf!
